The new electro producers of the past couple years have tended to focus on the dark, sci-fi-inspired end of the genre, leaving the more playful, tech-funk and dub-inspired side.

The Switzerland artist Davidovitch and his label cormalaké seem well placed to address this imbalance. Plenty of the music Davidovitch has released over the past 20 years has drawn from the Motor City, while in recent years he has released some pretty capable Detroit Tech and dub techno tracks. If you're OK with loving tributes to this type of electronic music rather than modern reinterpretations, Retrospective EP is worth your attention.
